Winners Crowned at 17th Playing of Oregon Super Senior Championship

The 17th Oregon Super Senior Championship, played Aug. 17-18 at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell, was won by Pat O’Donnell and Penny Gibbons. It was the second victory in the competition for both players – O’Donnell’s last came in 2019 while Gibbons won the event last year.

O’Donnell was the only player in the competition to finish under par. He opened with a 1-under par 71 and followed that up with a final-round 69 to finish 4-under par for the competition.

He posted just three bogeys over the course of the 36-hole event. His opening round consisted of mostly pars, to go with three birdies and two bogeys. O’Donnell’s final round featured four birdies with the just one bogey.

Brad Carey (73-72) took second place at 1-over par, while Rick Dollarhide (72-75) finished in third at 3-over.

Gibbons (80-84) dominated the women’s division cruising to a 20-stroke victory in the Patty Berg Flight. She ended the competition at 20-over par. Denise Chumrau (93-91) finished second.

Carolyn Turner (88-82) led the way in the Babe Zaharias Flight at 26-over par.

The Oregon Golf Association championships schedule continues Aug. 20-23 in Florence at the 7th Oregon Four-Ball Championship. That competition will be played at Florence Golf Links.
