Final Matches Set for Oregon Am, Oregon Senior Women's Am

The final matches are set for the 113th Oregon Amateur Championship and the 39th Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur Championship. Saturday marks the sixth and final day for the men and women, while the senior women will conduct their fourth day of competition Saturday at Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby.

There will be a first-time champion on the men’s side where No. 12 Tye Gabriel will face No. 14 Mateo Fuenmayor. That match is slated for 8:10am.

Gabriel and Fuenmayor each won five matches en route to Saturday’s 36-hole final.

Gabriel registered a 3&2 win over No. 9 Craig Ronne in the semifinal. Fuenmayor, who was runner-up in last year’s event, also posted five wins to reach Saturday’s final. He defeated No. 23 Sam Renner in the semifinal, 4&3.

There will also be a first-time champion in the women’s state amateur where No. 21 Mary Scott Wolfe will take on No. 7 Victoria Gailey. Both players recorded four wins to reach Saturday’s final which is scheduled for 8:00am.

Scott Wolfe, who finished second in this event in 2021, defeated Alexa Udom 3&2 in today’s semifinal round. Gailey needed 22 holes to get by No. 11 Baylee Hammericksen.

Tennant Seeks Record-Breaking Sixth Straight Crown

No. 2 seed Lara Tennant will face No. 4 seed Marcia Fisher in Saturday’s 18-hole match for the 39th Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur title. Those two will square off at 12:20pm.

Tennant and Fisher each registered three wins to reach the final match. Tennant beat No. 3 seed Anita Rosemeyer 3&1 in one semifinal. Fisher topped No. 9 Lisa Poritz, 3&2, in the other semifinal match on Friday.

Tennant has won a record five consecutive senior women’s titles (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021). She ranks behind Joan Edwards-Powell who won six (1997, 1998, 1999, 2006, 2008, 2009).
